Travel itinerary

La Paz → Balandra → Espíritu Santo → Los Islotes → San Evaristo → San Francisco → San José → La Paz

1

La Paz → Balandra Bay

Meet at Marina Costa Baja, shop for provisions and sail for about 2–2.5 hours. A shallow bay with white sand, transparent turquoise water and the famous El Hongo rock. Our first night is at anchor.

2

Balandra → Espíritu Santo

Sail to Bahía San Gabriel with red volcanic cliffs, cacti, SUP boards and kayaks. If you wish, walk to the wide Playa Bonanza beach.

3

Los Islotes and Partida Island

Visit a sea-lion colony and go snorkelling or diving with a licensed local operator. Overnight in sheltered Ensenada Grande or near Partida Island.

4

Partida → San Evaristo

An authentic secluded fishing village, fresh fish and a calm protected bay — the true atmosphere of Baja California.

5

San Evaristo → San Francisco Island

A famous crescent-shaped anchorage, crystal-clear water and red cliffs. In the evening, hike up the ridge for a panoramic view of the island.

6

San Francisco → San José → Partida

Explore the Amortajada mangrove channels by dinghy or kayak and watch the birds. Our final night is in a quiet bay.

7

Partida → Pichilingue → La Paz

One last swim, a stop at Pichilingue beach and Mexican seafood tacos. Return to Marina Costa Baja.

The exact route, overnight stops and activities may change depending on the weather, national park rules and the captain’s decision. Night passages are not made in this region.

What makes this trip special

  • the contrast of desert, red cliffs and clear sea;
  • the sea-lion colony at Los Islotes;
  • kayaking, SUP and snorkelling in remote bays;
  • the mangrove channels of San José Island and birdwatching;
  • quiet anchorages that are difficult to reach from land.
Mobile coverage is limited across much of the area — a genuine opportunity to switch off from the city rhythm.
